Introducing the President and Vice President of the MSA for 2018-2019.
Prof. Hokyong Shon, President
I am an Australia Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow and Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UTS. I link my interest in membrane to September 2002 when I conducted nanofiltration experiments for water reuse in Sydney was my first relationship. Since then I have been interested in membranes and asked many questions and had lots of discussions with a rapid growth of membrane applications. Membranes today cover a wide range of water, air, food, pharmaceutical materials, etc. The potentials of fundamentals and applications are still huge and can further advance our lives and future. I hope the MSA members play an important role to better achieve the endless potentials of membranes.
Dr. Geoffrey Johnston-Hall, Vice President
I am Principal Scientist at Evoqua Water Technologies Membrane Systems (MEMCOR® Products) in Sydney. I earned my BAppSci in Materials Science from UTS, Sydney and my PhD in Chemistry from UQ, Brisbane. My interest in membrane technologies began in 2002 while developing products for the purification of proteins, antibodies and growth hormones at Life Therapeutics, and was re-ignited when I joined Evoqua in 2008 working on membranes for water and wastewater purification. I believe the MSA serves an important focal point for helping to connect, educate and supporting students, researchers, manufacturers and users in our region.
Meet our other Directors.
