Applications close 31-05-2010This project addresses the synthesis of improved microporous membranes for the separation of small molecules such as H2 from gas streams. The goal is to develop stable microporous (zeolite) membranes that can be employed in separation-enhanced catalytic processes relevant to sustainable energy production.
The task of the post-doctoral research fellow is to optimise gas permeance properties of zeolite membranes on ceramic hollow fibres by using chemical vapour infiltration (CVI, akin to CVD). By choosing suitable precursors and process conditions, solid materials are deposited out of the gas phase in or near the defects, thereby closing these defects and improving separation properties. CVI can be used both as a final manufacturing step, or as a way to repair membranes that are already being applied.
The work will be carried out in close collaboration with and partly at the premises of Hyflux CEPAration. Hyflux is a Singapore-based leading company in liquid treatment, energy and special products. The subsidiary Hyflux CEPAration Technologies (Europe) BV in Helmond (near Eindhoven) carries out the R&D on inorganic and hybrid inorganic/organic membrane technology.
We are seeking for talented and enthusiastic scientists/researchers with a doctors degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with a background in inorganic chemistry or catalysis, specifically with expertise in membrane technology, preferably in chemical vapor deposition. You have good analytical and communicative skills, you are fluent in English and a teamplayer.
The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU) and amounts initially to at least € 2861 per month (scale 10.4) depending on prior experience. An offer will be based on your knowledge and experience.
